First Virtual Worlds Partnership Annual Forum to take place in Valencia
The first Virtual worlds Partnership Annual Forum takes place alongside EuroXR 2026 and the New European Media (NEM) summit, bringing together Europe’s virtual worlds community.
The Virtual Worlds Partnership Annual Forum, EuroXR 2026 and the NEM Summit 2026 will take place from 2 - 6 November to connect policymakers, researchers, industry representatives and innovators. Participants will discuss the future of virtual worlds, share research results and showcase technologies developed across Europe, including through EU-funded projects.
At the heart of the programme is the first Annual Forum of the Virtual Worlds Partnership, on 2 and 3 November.
The Forum is an opportunity for Partnership members and the wider ecosystem to exchange views on Europe's priorities for virtual worlds and discuss how to turn shared ambitions into concrete action.
Discussions will focus on the Partnership's Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, interoperability, digital twins, immersive technologies, standards and governance.
The Forum will also encourage collaboration between organisations working on research, technological development and real-world applications.
Alongside the forum, EuroXR 2026 and the NEM Summit 2026 will bring their established research and innovation communities to Valencia. Scientific sessions, project presentations and networking activities will help connect European research with industry needs and emerging applications.
40 immersive experiences bringing innovation to life
25 Exhibiting organisations | 40 Experiences | 7 Nationalities
The Forum will also feature a exhibition, with organisations from 7 countries presenting 40 immersive experiences.
The exhibition will demonstrate practical applications from nearly all the sectors covered by the Partnership’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, including industry, education and cultural heritage.
Visitors will be able to explore several demonstration zones for a hands-on view of technologies developed by Europe's virtual worlds community:
Immersive experiences: augmented, virtual and mixed reality applications using headsets, tablets and AI-enabled glasses.
Virtual studio: a green-screen production space demonstrating 3D television sets and augmented reality animations.
Digital twins: an interactive experience connecting a physical bicycle to its digital counterpart.
VR films: immersive audiovisual experiences, including dance performances.
Interactive AI: screens allowing visitors to engage directly with AI agents.
By combining strategic discussions, scientific exchange and practical demonstrations, the 3 events aim to strengthen cooperation and help turn European research and innovation into solutions that benefit businesses and citizens.
Background
The Virtual Worlds Partnership was launched in December 2025. It brings together industry and researchers to accelerate innovation, develop skills and advance immersive applications across sectors.
